About

I am also available to offer Expert Witness assessments and reports for the Family Court or pre-proceedings, Clinical Supervision, and Reflective Consultation for professionals working in helping professions.

Deciding to seek support when we are struggling emotionally is a brave step which takes a lot of strength. Finding the right person can be tricky, especially when there are so many different professional titles and types of therapy to attempt to decipher.

I am a Clinical Psychologist which means I have extensive training in multiple models of therapy in order to be able to use a bespoke approach for any new person I meet with.

I have worked within mental health services since 2009, with adults, young people and families within the NHS, other organisations and now in private practice, so have a wealth of experience to draw on.

My approach to therapy is gentle and thoughtful, and I place a big emphasis initially on the development of a safe and contained feeling therapeutic relationship. The first few sessions might look like me getting to know you as a person and the difficulties you are bringing to discuss. Together, we will come up with a shared understanding of the root of the difficulties and how they are being sustained in the present. We will then think about changes you’d like to make and I will offer a roadmap for how we might get there.

This may include things like identifying common thinking ‘traps’ or behavioural patterns (using a model like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), looking at addressing imbalances in your emotional systems, activating your capacity for self-compassion and considering your core values (using Compassion Focused Therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy models), or even looking at exploring and processing difficult past experiences or traumas (using for example, trauma-focused therapy or EMDR).

If you are not sure whether this approach sounds right for you, feel free to contact me via my website contact page and we can arrange to have a free initial consultation on the phone to discuss your hopes for therapy.
