Adult Therapy

People come to therapy for a huge range of different reasons. It may be that they are struggling with emotional distress which is becoming overwhelming, there may be specific circumstances around relationships, family, parenting or work that feel troubling and 'stuck'. Sometimes people come to therapy without a specific issue but a desire to explore areas such as childhood, relationships, identity, confidence or future aspirations.   My aim is to work collaboratively with people to support positive change within a relationship which is non-judgmental, safe and contained.

The models of therapy I use regularly are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-focused Therapy as well as work on familial relationships using an attachment focused therapy called Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP).

What can I expect?

If you decide to make contact, I will aim to get back to you within two working days to let you know about my availability and to arrange an initial free 15 minute phone conversation about what you would like to work on in therapy.

During our first session we'll consider the difficulties you are coming to therapy with and whether working together feels like a good fit.  â€‹It’s difficult to predict how many sessions an individual might need. Most of the time, an 8-10 session commitment will be made with a plan to review at this stage and decide together whether or not to continue.
